The new platform connects merchant seafarers with maritime companies faster and more securely, reducing hiring times and regulatory barriers

UNITED KINGDOM, January 2026. Liberty Dreams announces the launch of the beta phase of its new digital maritime candidate portal, a platform designed to modernise and streamline recruitment within the international maritime sector.

Over the past week, Liberty Dreams has begun operating this beta platform with real users, prioritising seafarers who were already part of its previous, more manual recruitment service. Access to the platform will be rolled out gradually in order to test it with real users, optimise workflows and ensure a robust system ahead of full deployment.

Document verification as a key differentiator

One of the main strengths of the new platform is its document verification system, carried out directly by Liberty Dreams’ internal team.
Candidates can upload their STCW certificates, professional licences and other mandatory documentation, which is reviewed to confirm:

  • Compliance with current regulations
  • Validity and expiry dates
  • Alignment with international standards

This enables companies that need to embark crew at short notice to select candidates who already meet all requirements, significantly reducing administrative delays and operational risk.

An equivalency system that removes international confusion

Liberty Dreams has developed a training and certification equivalency system based on international regulations such as SOLAS, STCW and MLC 2006, allowing foreign companies to clearly understand each seafarer’s national qualifications.

A common example is Spain, where the Directorate General of the Merchant Marine issues a single Basic Safety Training certificate that is equivalent to four separate STCW modules. In countries such as the United Kingdom, these modules are issued individually, which often creates confusion for shipowners and maritime recruiters.

Liberty Dreams’ platform automatically translates these equivalencies, bringing clarity, transparency and confidence to international recruitment processes.

Platform opening to companies in February

The platform will be open to shipping companies and recruitment agencies from February, once testing of the candidate area with real users has been completed.

In the meantime, merchant seafarers interested in joining the beta programme can apply by contacting:

Partnerships and access to a wide candidate database

Liberty Dreams has access to a large and diverse maritime candidate database and is open to collaboration with both shipping companies and recruitment agencies seeking to fill positions in the short or medium term.
