What maintenance and support mean (and what they don’t)

Companion Hosting includes ongoing technical support and maintenance designed to keep your website stable, secure and working as expected. It is important to clarify what this support does and does not cover, so expectations are clear from the beginning. (Clear agreements keep long term relationships).

What is included

Maintenance and support are intended to help with practical, operational tasks, such as:

  • Applying core, theme and plugin updates
  • Fixing issues caused by updates or configuration changes
  • Small content or layout changes (text, images, basic sections)
  • Assistance with plugin configuration and settings
  • Troubleshooting common website errors
  • Help with email, DNS, SSL and hosting-related configuration
  • General technical guidance in plain, understandable language

These tasks are handled within the time allowance included in your plan.

What isn't included

Companion Hosting is not a development or agency service, and it does not include:

  • Large redesigns or new website builds
  • Custom development or bespoke features
  • Complex e-commerce restructuring
  • Ongoing content creation or copywriting
  • Marketing, SEO campaigns or advertising management
  • Third-party software licensing or costs
  • 24/7 emergency or on-call support

Requests that fall outside this scope can still be handled, but they are treated as separate maintenance work and quoted accordingly.

  • Requests are prioritised based on urgency and complexity
  • More complex or time-consuming work is discussed in advance
  • You remain in control of decisions, nothing is changed without your approval
